Harley-Davidson Contributions Top $5 Million

2007 MDA contributions from Harley-Davidson totaled $5.1 million.
September 7, 2007

Milwaukee, WI - Harley-Davidson 2007 fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association reached $5.1 million, bringing cumulative fundraising for MDA since 1980 to more than $65 million. The announcement was made during the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Harley-Davidson Motor Company President and Chief Operating Officer, Jim McCaslin, presented the $5.1 million check on behalf of those who raised funds for MDA. “The Harley-Davidson family worked hard all year creating special motorcycle events to raise funds for research and to send kids to MDA Summer Camp,” said McCaslin during the telethon broadcast. “But just as important is the special bond we’ve developed with children and families served by MDA.”

Joining McCaslin on the telethon broadcast were representatives from the Eastern Harley-Davidson Dealers Association who raised more than $1 million this year during their twentieth annual Ride for Life.

Also participating in the broadcast were representatives from dealerships across the country who also hosted top MDA fundraising events this year.

Harley-Davidson fundraising activities for the Muscular Dystrophy Association took place over the 12-month period leading up to the Telethon and included pledge rides, dealer fundraisers, motorcycle raffles, Black and Blue Ball fundraising dinners and pin sales.

Harley-Davidson has been a national sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association since 1980. The funds raised support life-saving research, comprehensive medical care for children and adults with neuromuscular disease, and MDA summer camps.
